OCTOBER 2001 NEWSLETTER

 

Saturday, October 6 Ð Noson Lawen at the Gomer United Church of Christ at 7:00 p.m.  Anyone is invited to participate.  Call Alice Ruth Bushong at (419) 331-3651

 

Saturday, October 6 and Sunday October 7 from 5:00 Ð 7:00 the Gomer Welsh Museum will be open for viewing.  The museum certainly has not been completed, however, the Welsh Society would like for the public to see the progress.

 

Sunday, October 7 Ð Gymanfa Ganu at the Gomer United Church of Christ at 7:00 p.m.  Director Dr. Trefor Williams from Milwaukee; A Welsh tea sponsored by the choir will follow.

 

Saturday, October 27 Ð 4th annual Welsh Breakfast at the Gomer United Church of Christ from 8:30 Ð 11:30 a.m.  Donation of $4.00 is requested.  Sponsor is the Welsh Society of North West Ohio.  Tickets may be obtained from society members, at the Gymanfa Ganu of by calling Elizabeth Roberts at (419) 642-6845.  Tickets should be purchased prior to Monday, October 22.  Limited tickets will be available at the door.

Sunday, December 9 Ð Christmas sing and tea at 2:30, Gomer United Church of Christ.  Guest Director Mr. Richard Humphreys, Jr. from Findlay.  A Christmas tour of homes will follow.

Museum Landscaping Ð the outside landscaping will consist of low maintenance, hardy perennials.  Plans are to have three gardens representing a Walsh connotation.  1)  The Prince of Wales Garden consisting of Junipers; 2) Daffodil and leak garden; 3) Powis Castle garden consisting of Viburnum.

 

Several individuals have donated peonies and hostas.  If you have any plants that have some historical significance to Wales and would like to see these planted at the museum, contact David Whittington at (419) 642-5911; 2000 W. Lincoln Highway, Rt.#1 Elida, OH 45807.

 

Next Welsh Society meeting is Thursday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gomer United Church of Christ.
